Andre Braugher, the actor died on Monday after a brief illness. Braugher came to fame on the NBC drama Homicide : Life on the street, which ran from 1992 to 1998.

Born in 1962 in Chicago as the youngest of 4 children, Braugher studied theatre on a Stanford Scholarship before attending the Juilliard School for drama.

Braugher’s big break in Hollywood came after his role in 1989 ‘Glory’ which portrayed the first all- Black army regiment. Afterwards, his TV career continued growing with roles in ‘City of Angels’, ‘Poseidon’, ‘Frequency’, ‘The Mist’, ‘Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer’, ‘Salt’ and ‘The Gambler’.

11 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations and won two-time’s, Emmy – winning actor’s passing on Monday caused an outpour of grief and condolences from fans across social media on Tuesday.

The talented actor is survived by his wife (married since 1991) and actor Ami Brabson, as well as three children, Michael, Isaiahand John Wesley. Braugher is also survived by his mother, Sally and his brother, Charles Jennings.
