
Mumbai Indians have appointed the returning Hardik Pandya (30 year old) as their captain for the IPL 2024 season.

Hardik Pandya was part of MI from 2015 to 2021 making 92 appearances, MI however released the star all-rounder ahead of the 2022 mega auction where Titans signed him. Pandya led Titans to the title in very first season (2022) and next year lost the final of IPL 2023 to Chennai Super Kings.
“It is part of legacy building and staying true to the MI philosophy of being future-ready. Mumbai Indians have always been blessed with exceptional leadership right from Sachin to Harbhajan and Ricky to Rohit, who while contributing to the immediate success have always had an eye on strengthening the team for the future. It is in keeping with this philosophy that Hardik Pandya will assume captaincy of Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024 season,” Mahela Jayawardene said.

Rohit Sharma (35 year old), the joint-most successful captain in history of the Indian Premier League with MS Dhoni, winning five title for MI between 2013 and 2020.
Under Rohit Sharma captaincy MI won IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
